43. Are Carbs Good or Bad? And What Actually Matters
Sep 29
Are carbohydrates really responsible for weight gain, insulin resistance, and all the metabolic problems we keep hearing about? Or have we been blaming the wrong thing?
In this episode, I'm breaking down what actually matters when it comes to carbohydrates. I'll talk about why an apple and a sugary soda aren't metabolically equivalent, what happens to your blood sugar and insulin after eating, and why eliminating carbs can sometimes mean missing out on important nutrients and fiber.
I'll also explain why I'm not a fan of giving everyone the same carbohydrate recommendations, how food quality influences your metabolic health, and why you don't necessarily need to fear every glucose spike.
Before you eliminate another food group, let's look at the bigger picture. My goal is to help you understand which carbohydrates work for your body so you can stop following restrictive food rules and start making informed nutrition choices.
